There is a number of ways we celebrate success in the academic and sporting arena. Weekly assemblies are a time when students and teachers are celebrated and acknowledged for their work, effort, attitude and extra curricula achievements.
Teachers celebrate and acknowledge students within the classroom in a range of ways, including notes home to parents via the College Organiser, Assembly awards and Green Cards to acknowledge students adhering to the two school rules: Respect for Learning and Respect for Self and Others.
Students enter a draw to play the Assembly Game....a much anticipated and loved weekly event.
There are a number of key events in the Junior School. These include:
Under 8's Day - where students and parents come together to celebrate early childhood through a range of fun and engaging activities. Our local childcare centres, C&K Kindergarten and Playgroup attend this exciting event.
Family Maths/English and Science Nights - a time when students and parents come together to work on a range of activities that support work from the classroom. Family Nights are a way for parents to connect with the learning, language and strategies that occur in the classroom.
Prep Mother's and Father's Day Event - Each year we celebrate this event by inviting Prep parents to join us in a reading or maths workshop with High Tea/ BBQ, before heading down to classrooms for fun, learning activities with dedicated activities in literacy, numeracy and social interaction.
Canberra Tour - Since 2009, our Year 6 students have the opportunity to head to Sydney and Canberra with Junior School staff for 6 days in August. Students visit Taronga Zoo, National War Memorial, Australian Institute of Sport, Perisher Snow Fields and much more. This bus tour has become a 'must do' activity for our Year 6 students before they move into the Secondary sector, with information sessions and payment plans available for parents leading up to the event.
Cross Country and Athletics Carnival - These sporting events in Term 1 and Term 3 allow all students from Prep - Year 6 to participate and earn points for their sporting houses, Tharah, Keera, Boree and Cobar. Student who excel in these events may have the opportunity to represent our College at District, Regional and State titles.
