At Calamvale Community, Technologies refers to four main areas:
- Curriculum (Digital and Design Technologies)
- Technology use within the classroom
- Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
- Extra Curriculum Offerings.
Curriculum:
Digital and Design Technologies is embedded within Units of Inquiry, Maths and English, authentically linking the five areas. When students are participating in elements of Technologies, they are engaging with the Design Thinking Process or Computational Thinking to make meaning and develop solutions to problems.
Technology Use
In addition to iPads, students in P-6 will access a variety of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) to support and enhance the curriculum. Technologies such as ClassVR, MergeCubes and 3D development software known as CoSpaces.
BYOD:
Students in Years 3-6 have the option to participate in CCC’s BYOD Program. BYOD is an ownership model where students use privately owned devices to access the network and information systems in an educational setting. At Calamvale Community College, our BYOD program is using Apple iPads that meet our minimum specification requirements.
- For more information, please refer to the BYOD section of the College Website.
Extra Curriculum Offerings:
In addition to Technologies being delivered within the classroom, extra-curriculum offerings are also available, including:
- Lego Club
- Robotics Clubs for both Lower and Upper Junior
- Young Engineers (Year 3 to 9)
