At Calamvale Community College, our program aims to develop confident and numerate learners who are able to apply mathematical skills to meet the demands of everyday life.
Our focus is around inquiry based pedagogy and the explicit teaching of concepts through supported group activities, and opportunities for students to experiment and explore concepts within an inquiry and problem solving approach. Students are encouraged and taught to record their understandings in a variety of ways, and to explain their understanding and the strategies used. Teaching and learning activities are targeted to the learning needs of each student, with opportunities for all students to be challenged, supported, and able to succeed.
Our programs provide students with opportunities to learn mental maths strategies, engage in problem solving and critically reflect on their learning.
