Welcome to the Junior School at Calamvale Community College.
I am sure you agree that the first few years of a child's education are important in terms of growth and development. In recognition of how crucial this is, the Junior School offers a comprehensive education program led by enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff members.
At Calamvale, we provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum that respects and supports diversity. We encourage children to make decisions, think critically, problem solve and become confident, inquisitive, enthusiastic learners. These experiences lay the foundation for future educational experiences and prepare each and every learner for success.
The Junior school consists of students from Prep to Year 6 housed in Learning Communities (LCs). Our Prep students are located in a dedicated precinct which includes a Prep only play space. This enables our youngest members of our school to transition to formal education in a safe and supported environment.
We are a large school of approximately 1100 students. Because of this, The Junior School is organised into Lower Junior (Prep - Year 2) and Upper Junior (Year 3- Year 6) with separate start, finish and play times.
Our teaching staff work in collaborative teams, supported by Heads of Department and Deputy Principals to ensure consistency across the school in terms of teacher pedagogy, student management and high expectations for all members of our school.
The role of parents in our school is vital to our success as we work together to create a smooth transition between home and school. We are very proud of the supportive, encouraging atmosphere of the Junior School. On behalf of the staff, students and parents of Calamvale Community College, I would like to welcome you to the Junior School and extend an invitation for you to become an active member of our College community.
