Calamvale Community College’s uniquely designed, holistic environment for Junior Secondary student guides students as they transition from childhood to young adulthood.  Our program recognises this period of rapid physical, emotional and intellectual development and works to engage them in establishing their own identity and place in this rapidly changing world and becoming confident learners engaged with their teachers and curriculum.

Adolescent learners are eager to experience new independence, but must also cope with the physiological changes as they transition from a child to teenager. The Junior Secondary provides the ideal context in which to develop academic excellence and learning-to-learn-skills. Delivering outstanding educational outcomes in an agile and thriving P-12 learning community where our people are: creative and critical thinkers, problem solvers and citizens of the world.

The Design Thinking Process, a human-centred, iterative process that designers use to tackle problems, underpins everything students do in each Technologies Strand at CCC. In Years 7 and 8, students experience the 4 strands of Technologies on offer each year, including: Design Technologies, Digital Technologies, Food Technologies and STEM (Science, Technologies, Engineering & Maths). In Year 9, students can choose a Technologies elective, which runs for a semester, continuing to develop their interests and applying the foundational skills learnt in Years 7 & 8 to set a solid foundation for Senior Secondary offerings. Year 9 electives include: Design Technologies, Food Technologies and STEM.

At Calamvale Community College we pride ourselves on giving the best possible support to our students so they are able to grown into thoughtful, confident, competent contributors to their local community and wider society.
