 Welcome to Junior Secondary

The Junior Secondary phase of learning is a very important phase for our learners as they experience great change and growth (physically, socially & emotionally) in so many areas. During this time, schools need to respond to the changing cognitive, physical, emotional, economic, social, and technological needs and conditions associated with adolescence, so that we are able to facilitate the learning conditions and support required for them to be successful now and in the future.

Research into adolescent learners has identified the unique challenges students can experience in this phase of learning as well as their transition from the primary phase to the junior secondary phase and this is why Calamvale Community College has implemented a number of key initiatives to best support our young people so they have every chance of success at school.  Please take the time to read through this information.

Every year level is supported by a Year Level Co-ordinator whose role is to focus on the wellbeing and positive engagement of their learners.  They are the first contact for support and meet with their year levels on a daily and weekly basis.

Every student is supported in the Care, Communicate and Connect (CCC) class.  This is the start to their learning day and where students make a positive daily contact before proceeding to lessons.  Every student belongs to a school house (Boree, Tharah, Keera and Cobar).
